Let off steam at these great new kidsâ?? activity days! Under supervision from our friendly volunteers, come and have a go at operating the crossing gates, be a train guard for a day or learn how the signals work in our historic signal box. You can ride our classic diesel train as well.
Due to us being a working railway yard, all kids must be accompanied by one adult who will be admitted FREE. Any additional adults should pay normal admission. Please make sure the kids wear old clothes (they WILL get dirty!) and sturdy shoes. Places are strictly limited so everyone gets a go at everything â?? pre-booking is essential.

Chelmsford Chess Club meet at North Springfield Community Association, Forsythia Close, Chelmsford (6.9 miles)
Chelmsford Chess Club is an established and sucessful chess club with over 30 full-time members, whose standards range from beginner through to county level. Affiliated to the British Chess Federation, the club competes in the North Essex Chess League (NECL) where, this year, it's highly successful 'A' team were crowned League Champions for the 3rd successive season. In all, the club fields 4 teams in the league, providing all members with the opportunity to experience competitive chess. Chelmsford Gym Club meet at Chelmsford, Rodney Way, Chelmsford (8.4 miles)
The club started about 30 years ago and has always been based at Dovedale Sports Centre, Vicarage Road, Chelmsford. Julie Belemore, the current Head Coach, took over the club in 1992. When Julie took over the club had 20 girls, training on two badminton courts on a Saturday. We now have over 300 gymnasts training throughout the week at our purpose built centre which opened in April 2012.
We currently have 3 Essex champions: 2 silver medalists and a regional finalist and the British 2011 Veterans Champion
